CSA Week 13: What’s in the box

Update: We’re getting an extra week for our CSA season!  Please read this excerpt from the Farm’s last newsletter (in case you are not on their mailing list):

It’s been a very difficult farming season with the persistent and severe drought.  At the core of CSA is an understanding that the harvests will fluctuate through the season and in response to weather and climate factors.  This year’s drought is causing us longer-term issues in terms of crop delays and missed plantings.  With 26 years of growing experience behind us, we can say that this year has been the most challenging of all.

We have decided to extend the CSA program by an additional week at the end of the season to make up for the lack of quantity in the shares this month. While not necessary, we feel like it’s the right thing to do, and we always want to be as generous as we possibly can with our wonderful and supportive membership community. While the program was originally scheduled to end on week #25, please mark your calendars for a bonus week after Thanksgiving.  We will confirm the date of this final delivery as we get closer.

This week, the farm is sending us:

  • Red tomatoes
  • Sungold cherry tomatoes
  • Carrots
  • Kale
  • New potatoes

Fruit share from Briermere Farms: peaches and apples.

Check out the farm’s newsletter here for helpful tips on how to store, and prepare your veg.  Also please read to understand how this extremely dry summer has impacted our farmers’ and our crops this season.

Also check out M.Wells menu so you can combine your pickup tomorrow with dinner and/or drinks.

PICKUP is TOMORROW, Thursday August 27th from 5-7pm.  Bring a bag to take home your goodies and a mask so we can all be safe.
